Celebrating Strengths, Supporting Growth

Asperger’s Syndrome is a developmental disorder that can create challenges with social skills, behavior, and coordination. Asperger’s Syndrome is part of the autism spectrum (ASD). Spectrum means signs and symptoms can vary from person to person.
Social and communication challenges means a child or adult has trouble interacting. Social challenges include showing minimal interest in interacting with other people. People with Asperger’s may struggle with giving others eye contact. Communication challenges include the inability to interpret body language. People with an Asperger’s diagnosis may not understand jokes or read social cues accurately. Their speech may sound robotic.
Behavior challenges may cause someone with Asperger’s to have anxiety around new people or in new situations. They may become overwhelmed in new situations because they struggle with socializing in a new environment. They may not have tools to know how to interact with new people. In addition, someone with Asperger’s may have sensory issues.
For an individual with Asperger’s, professional interventions offer the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, empathy, healthy communication and problem solving skills. We understand that every person has different goals and needs. We work with our clients to develop a personalized and affective treatment plan. We offer a supportive and compassionate environment for you or a family member struggling with Asperger’s. Call us today for an appointment.
